High-Heels Today Can Mean Shoe Foot Pain Tomorrow

High-Heels Today Can Mean Shoe Foot Pain Tomorrow
admin

High heels can cause long-term pain if you wear them too often. In addition, poor-fitting shoes, in general, are likely to cause chronic suffering. This includes sandals and slippers too. Women are more likely to wear these shoes. Therefore, they are also more likely to develop shoe foot pain.

Causes

Foot pain is one of the top reasons older adults visit their doctor. There is little known as to what causes foot pain in these adults. Most previous studies were based on particular diseases. There was no research on general foot pain, though.

A recent study was conducted into how footwear affects foot pain. The goal was to discover why women experienced more foot pain. Age groups for participants were 20-29, 30-44, 45-64, 65-74, and 75+.

Studies of Shoe Foot Pain

The shoes examined were classified into three groups, such as:

  • Good: low-risk shoes such as sneakers
  • Average: work boots or rubber-soled shoes
  • Poor: Lacing support and structure like sandals and high heels

The Conclusion

There was no link between foot pain and shoes for men. However, this is because less than 2% wore incorrectly fitted shoes. Women were found to experience more daily foot pain. But, women that wore good shoes felt less pain later in life.

Women need to make careful choices about their footwear. Even if the shoe foot pain is minimal. Stretching exercises will help alleviate pain. But, even still, more severe pain can show up later down the road. Supportive shoes are one of the best ways to prevent this.
